Trombol Beach

Kuching Division

Kuching's hidden shore — a quiet stretch of sand, sea and forest at the end of a peaceful country drive.

Watch — see it for yourself

Trombol is the beach Kuching folk keep for themselves — a long, quiet stretch of sand near Kampung Trombol where the rainforest runs almost to the tideline and the South China Sea opens out beyond. There are no resorts and no crowds; the reward is the journey itself and a shoreline that still feels untouched.

Getting there is half the charm: a peaceful drive out of the city through kampung country, ending at a coast that's popular with locals for picnics, beach camping and long, empty-horizon sunsets. The drone footage below shows exactly what awaits.

Highlights

  • A genuinely quiet, undeveloped beach within reach of Kuching
  • Forest meeting the sand — casuarina shade and jungle backdrop
  • A scenic kampung drive to get there
  • Popular local spot for camping and sunset picnics

Good to know

  • No facilities to speak of — bring water, food and shade, and take every bit of litter home
  • The sea here is open coast: watch conditions and don't swim alone
  • Arrange return transport before you go — this is a remote corner of Kuching Division

Getting there

Trombol sits on the coast north-east of Kuching, reached by road through the kampungs — roughly an hour's drive from the city, with the final stretch on quiet village roads. Go by car or Grab (arrange your return ride in advance; coverage out here is thin).
